Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2018
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just announced it will induct six hallowed names into its 2018 class, and ASCAP is proud to license music by all of them.
ASCAP represents members of Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits (PRS) and The Moody Blues (PRS) plus Nina Simone, all of whom will be welcomed to the Rock Hall in the Performer category. ASCAP gospel singer-guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe, widely viewed as a pioneer of rock guitar playing, will be welcomed in with an Award for Early Influence.
Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording. The 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Performer Inductees were chosen by more than 900 voters, as well as the aggregate results of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s online fan vote.
The top five artists from the fan vote comprised the Fans’ Ballot that was tallied alongside the other ballots to determine the 2018 Inductees. Four of the winners of the Fans’ Ballot (Bon Jovi, The Cars, Dire Straits and The Moody Blues) will be inducted in 2018.
The 33rd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 in Cleveland. Ticket on-sale dates will be announced in January. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2018 Induction Ceremony will again have its television premiere on HBO, and a radio broadcast on SiriusXM. Broadcast details will be announced in early 2018.
The 2018 Induction in Cleveland will also include a weeklong series of events with an Inductee exhibit and floor opening, free admission day to the Museum and more. Details will also be announced later. All Inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the nonprofit organization that tells the story of rock and roll’s global impact via special exhibits, educational programs and its library and archives.
